Railway ordered to pay $85K for whistleblower violations

Fed-OSHA has ordered the operator of Massachusetts railroad system to pay an employee who was injured on the job $10,000 in compensatory damages, $75,000 in punitive damages and attorney’s fees. Fed-OSHA is investigating after a 41-year-old man fell about 90 feet to his death last Monday from an exterior roof at the Georgia Pacific MDF plant near Mount Jewett, Pennsylvania. He had been performing scheduled maintenance at the time of the accident. Olean Times Herald
